Thaumcraft Hungry node
1. They seem to always have the Fames (hungry) aspect in them. However this may of just been coincidence. You might find that the node type is influenced heavily by the aspects in them aka. fames=hungry. death/darkness/undead = sinister. Life = pure. Now it might just be that nodes of a certain type will have a certain kind of aspect in them (particularly in world gen). However if node aspect does have an influence then it would be very interesting to see if this was expanded on in the future.

2. You can collect them in a jar.

3. They can't munch through obsidian and their feeding rate is slow.

4. You could use 2 fillers to surround the node in glass and then put the planks on top and jar the node. Next you could make an obsidian prison for it with an opening which will allow a far away wand recharge pedestal to feed off it. As long as you have a system to stop your wand getting sucked in then you could fill it very effectively from the node. Throwing in the primal aspects along with a tier 7 aspect like fabrico (and practically all the others) could give you a potent source of aspects.

Absolutely useful. To capture it simply encase it in obsidian and put slabs on the top. Exchange the obsidian with glass using the wand focus of equal trade. Before the node starts eating the glass, jar it. Now that you have hungry node, the next step is to feed it. If you throw cobblestone into the node you will notice that it grows in perditio and terra. Wooden swords contain all primals if you break them down, which is exactly what the node will do. Feed it swords until it grows massive. Once you have a node with about 200 in all the primals, you have something perfect for charging staffs, the wand recharge pedestal should work through obsidian. Or you could make it about 5 times that size and energize it.

[1] Warded Glass, you can also use Obsidian (both do not get consumed by the hungry node).
[2] The node is still hungry.
[3] I just used a Blood Magic Teleposer to teleport the node into my base, you can also bottle the node but it's VERY difficult to accomplish. I would recommend if you're new is to find a hungry node and build your base around it.
[4] I made a 1x1 hole of Warded Glass up from the top of the node about 20 blocks high, then tossed in crafting benches one at a time using a "Dropper" block. Set it up to a red-stone clock and just keep it fed.
[5] My node was moved twice, once from it's natural location to the top of my base, then below ground for visual purposes. I did not bottle the node since I didn't want to potentially damage it so I used the Blood Magic mod to do so.
[6] It's irrelevant where you feed it, Nodes are simply nodes regardless of how large they are.
[7] Crafting Benches contain all the primal aspects and are easy to make in bulk. I would recommend 100,000 benches. It takes a LOT if you want a node over 1000+ aspects. [8] If you have a wand charging pedestal within I think 10 blocks of the node, it will draw. Even through walls.
[9] Heheheheh that's cute. No even I'm not that insane, it will eat the Transducer while it's becoming energized. This is not to say it's impossible, in fact it IS possible to do. From what I've "heard", to do this you will need about 30-40 node transducers and wait at the top placing down a new one when the node eats it. Keep this up until the energizing process is complete. The catch is that when it stops "energizing" and becomes "energized" If the Transducer is eaten at that moment, your entire Hungry Node will explode and destroy everything in a 10 block radius with taint and flux goo everywhere. I think the failure rate is about 40% so it's not worth it imo.
If you have any other questions just let me know, I'm glad to help.

WORD OF WARNING
When you use Warded Glass, it nullifies the effects of Ender Pearl teleportation anywhere near them. This is VERY dangerous since if you cannot fly and Warded Glass is near by, you'll literally be trapped there forever until something kills you. If you cannot fly with your character do not use Warded Glass to seal your Hungry Node. Use Obsidian until you can do so. Use Ender Pearls to get away from the Hungry Node when you're done doing your stuff

Thaumcraft nodes
  • Bright Nodes - Regenerate Aspects Faster
  • Normal Nodes - Regenerate at Normal Speed
  • Pale Nodes - Regenerate Slower than normal
  • Fading Nodes - Don't Regenerate Aspects

Additionally, when trying to combine nodes you won't always get the full amount over, it's random as to if as aspect transfers over or not but you may still loose a point! So all 86 of the perditio might not go into the 99 aqua node, but a fair portion of it should :) Also, you can put multiple nodes around the main node and it should work out! The bigger one will win in the end!

Thaumcraft 4 Silverwood Saplings growth?

Thaumcraft saplings don't need anything special unless you go for trying to get them grown in a non-natural way. For example, bonemeal doesn't work on them, but a hoe of growth will get them to grow instantly. As far as growing naturally, they do seem to take a good bit longer than vanilla trees, and it might be that their height is causing an issue for you. Silverwood's have a pretty good range, from as little as 3 or 4 blocks to just about as tall as a spruce, so make sure there's nothing above the sapling.

regarge wand

Killing mobs drop these little aspect orbs, with a wand in your inventory the orbs will fill the wand up slowly as you "pick them up". Different mobs give different aspects, though I don't remember them off the top of my head, pretty sure they're all primals though.

The intended way is to simply walk around to nodes and recharge your wand as needed like you're doing currently, then once you've got a silverwood wand and have researched Node in a Jar go around and capture nodes and bring them back to your base. You can then make a recharge pedestal which automates the process of siphoning vis out of nodes by placing the wand in the pedestal then letting it fill up. Note that a the pedestal only pulls primals unless you get the compound focus upgrade for the pedestal, and b the process of jarring nodes damages them, so Bright drop to Normal, Normal drop to Pale and Pale drop to Fading. To my knowledge the main difference between Bright, Normal and Pale is recharge rate, Bright recharges vis faster than Normal, which recharges vis faster than Pale. Fading has a chance of being destroyed randomly, so you want to only move a node once ever.

Once you progress enough in TC, you can get access to the energised node which produces a constant flow of centi-vis (CV), using a charging relay you can recharge any wands inside an arcane workbench with the relay on top using CV. You can also use an Amulet of Vis Storage or a Vis Stone (the lesser quality one that only stores 25 vis, whereas the amulet stores 250), either will slowly recharge wands held and can be filled when standing near a vis relay being fed CV, so essentially slow wireless wand recharging.

As catspaw1313 pointed out, Forbidden Magic adds a livingwood core, which recharges using mana, as well as one for Blood Magic and life essence. Additionally, Thaumic Exploration adds the amber core which, whilst storing a stupidly small amount of vis (10 for the wand versus 25 for the staff), it passively regenerates vis at about half the speed that the stone or amulet would, for free. Tainted Magic also has the warpwood core which can store 250 vis for the wand and 500 for the staff, and it passively regenerates vis based on how much warp you have, the more warp, the faster it generates vis (I have nearly maxed the sanity checker gauge and it regenerates 1 vis every maybe 2 seconds or so? pretty good).

All the ways that I know of to recharge wands.

Problem with Endearing Bees

The bees need to be super happy ti produce their specials now. Even if their temp/humidity tolderance is high, they need the exact preferance for their species.
